General Information:
Baoding is a city 137 km south of Beijing, it is one of the ten cities under the direct administration of Hebei Province. It covers an area of 40,000 sq. kilometers, with a population of 11 million. One third of its territory lies in the Taihang Mountains in the west, one third lies in the eastern plain area, the other third in the hilly land in between.
Baoding is a port on the Fu River and an agricultural distribution center, with food-processing and variety of other light industries.
Geography:
It has a total area of 22,000 square kilometers, with the capital Beijing on the north, Tianjin on the east, Shijiazhuang on the south and Shanxi on the west. It has a total population of more than 10 million and is the most populated area in Hebei Province. Baoding lies in the central part of Hebei Province. It is characterized by the loftiness and majesty of the towering Taihang Mountains and the boundless and level North China Plain.
Climate:
The area inside is north temperate zone the continental climate. The winter is cold and dry, the summer here is hot and humid ,the spring and autumnal is sandy and windy.
Nature:
Among all the natural resources, there are lots of green mountains in the western part with the Great Wall running through them. There are the summer resort, Laiyuan, where the average temperature in summer is 21¡ã and the national scenic spot, Ye-sanpo, which is full of wild interest and brimming with an exotic atmosphere. There is a vast expanse of fertile land on the plain in the east. Baiyang-dian, "the North China Pearl" is bright-colored and sparkling. Besides, there are Anguo, "the Capital of Herbs" and Fuping Tianqiao Waterfalls, the largest waterfall group in North China.
Baoding Economy:
As a microcosm of China itself, Baoding blends industry and agriculture into a dynamic economy. There are over 630 industrial enterprises mainly involved with metallurgy, machinery, chemistry and forestry.
These industries produce steel, transformers, paper and world-renowned hand-sculptured carpets. Baoding agricultural products include wheat, rice, peanuts, pears and apples. They are most famous for their strawberries and the Manchen Snow Peach.
Baoding is a very exciting city for investors, it has loads of very good projects to offer.
History:
Baoding is the hometown of Emperor Yao. As early as six or seven thousand years ago, the Chinese ancestors lived and multiplied on this land. Among all the 25 counties and municipalities, Yixian County was the capital of the State of Yan, which was one of the seven powerful states of the Warring States Period. Dingzhou was the capital of the State of Gujun.
Baoding was first built in the Song Dynasty and the name "Baoding" was given after the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty made Dadu (Beijing) its capital, because it was very close to Dadu, its meaning is "to protect Dadu and the world" Up to now, Baoding is still called "the South Gate of the Capital"
It was destroyed by the Mongolian Army early in the 13th century and rebuilt later that same century under the Yuan Dynasty. It served as an important cultural center through the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
During the early 1940's it served as a headquarters for the Japanese occupational armies.
Anguo was the fief of Wang Ling in the reign of the Han Emperor Liu Bang. Besides, Zhuozhou, Mancheng and so on have a history of over 1,000 years. Its geographical position of being on the south of the State of Yan and the north of the State of Zhao and in the vicinity of the royal capital made it a place contested by strategists in every dynasty.
